I don't know about historty, but I can talk about my costumes in the past.  When I was twelve I bought a plastic Don Post Darth Vader helmet.  My grandmother made all of the soft parts and I made the belt and chest pieces out of posterboard.  It was pretty good for back then.  I made it for a Star Wars play that I wrote and directed with classmates.  Move forward to 1999 to Star Wars Celebration I in Denver.  I saw 501st trooper armor for the first time and I decided that I wanted to do that.  I got really interested in Darth Maul when Episode 1 came out.  So much that I wanted to do a costume.  My first one was okay.  My horns were too big and I think I had a toy lightsaber.  The next year it was better with horns and a replica lightsaber from a propmaker in Canada.  Since I couldn't put on the Maul without help, I decided to sell it and get trooper armor.  It didn't sell for enough, so I went, with my son, as a Jedi that year at Halloween.  This costume also got sold and then after selling off some Star Wars stuff, I got stormtrooper armor through the 501st.  After a few years of trooping as a TK, I've come full circle with a 501st Legion approved Darth Vader costume.  Take a look here:  http://picasaweb.google.com/TK9965.

Now I'd really like to make a Captain America costume.  I'm not even quite sure how to start.  That's why I joined up.

Hello everyone, It is my goal to have as many serious costumers at my convention as possible. www.capecomiccon.com . I believe that costumers are the attraction at these events and people want to interact and get photos with those who immortalize the superheroes. I would love to have any and everyone who can make Cape Comic Con in Cape Girardeau Mo. May 1st and 2nd. I hope to see you there...you will be treated like guests of honor.

Hey Everyone,

My Name is John.  I have been costuming in the con scene since 2005 but was making my own costumes well before that. I am the Heroes Alliance webmaster and a member of the Tampa branch of the Heroes Alliance.

If you have any questions about the Heroes Alliance you can reach me via the webmaster link on the main page of the website.  I will try my best to answer any and all questions you may have, and if I do not have an answer I will find the person who does.  I am very happy to see our website grow the way it has these last few months, and it is all because of you.  So as the webmaster I would like to say Thank You.

I had wanted to start a club to do a lot of community work with children.I wanted to be able to dress up in superhero costumes.A friend told me about your group and I also saw some of you at Mega Con.

I have made some costumes but have no sewing abilities.I made a Thor costume as a child, and a Wonder Woman costume.

My name is John, I am new to the NJ and Philly area I come from NY.  I have a large movie and superhero collection you can see it on my Youtube Channel - Johnnyr2525,  I spent a few weeks with my grandmother and she was depressed and I thought of kids in the hospital and I thought that maybe I could make a few kids smile if I dressed up in my Spider-Man movie costume and visited hospitals.

Hiya!

So my name's Gala (or "Gal" for short... hence the username ;) ) and I'm currently a senior in college in Philly studying communications, English, and cinema. I've been a geek for as long as I can remember, probably started with the bullying of me having "mutant cooties" as I kid because I naturally have the same skunk stripe in my hair that Rogue does. Ha ha.

Although I currently have a Rogue X-Men Evolution costume, I'm working on a Batgirl (Stephanie Brown, but I'll probably do Barbara Gordon too one day!) and a Squire (Beryl Hutchinson). Hope to have them by Dragon*Con this year but there'll be plenty more costumes to come in the future (Rogue? Huntress? Batwoman? I'm so excited!).

Costuming aside, my hobbies including travel, reading, photography, and shopping. I hope to do PR and/or Children's Media one day too because I'm a kid at heart. <3

Cheers!

Gala

(Yup, this is the same info as on my profile...)

Just looking for more costumed fun.

Likely will make a costume of "Grifter" from Wildcats.  The GF is a fan of theirs pre-DC and will do one of them as well.

Hello everyone my name is Dan ,I'm a medically retired California police officer of 17 years now living in MO .I have always had a love for comic book superhero's especially marvel superhero's.I got into the costume business about 4 years ago with my wife when we started a non-profit organization called characters to life,We create costumes to make appearances at local children's hospitals and functions in the area ,we also make appearances at local law enforcment functions and fundraisers. Our major benefactor is shriners children's hospital ,Where our costumed appearance's have been posted on there national website. We have also been in the news paper for some of the functions that we have put on in the past.We are new to making costumes and can always use help and tips from seasoned costumers, we can always use donations of funds and costumes themselves, we are a state licenced non-profit organization so all donations are tax exempt and always appreciated. Our website is http://www.characterstolife.com/

Greetings to all...  we are Lord and Lady Nitestar.  Just wanted to say Hi!  We're fairly new at Superhero costuming, but have been doing other types of costuming for many years.  So far, we have completed 2 sets of Superheroes:  Thor and Rogue and Custom GL's, and are working on Batman and PowerGirl.

Hello everyone! Ok, a bit about myself. I've been costuming since 2001, primarily making my own stuff since 2004. I'm a member of the 300DC, which has gotten me to focus on health, which has also aided in confidence to do more comic book costumes.

I've known members of the HA for years, but never had the courage to sign up until recently.

I attend Dragon*con, and am working on Talia Al Ghul as I type.
