Hello there, I'm thinking of doing a Kyle Rayner costume, but I want to do his original form. For those who don't know what it looks like. here is a picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/leandro-egon/3456980746/

Now I was thinking of buying the body suit I saw off of Ebay for 40 but it doesn't include the mask or ring. My dad has a ring from the comic shop during last year's blackest night stuff that I could use. But how would I go about it if I wanted to try to save money and do it myself? lol Sorry. Any suggestions?

Here is the ebay costume: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=260558507076&Category=53369

When it comes to body suits, I usually order compression tops and bottoms from Eastbay, then add details myself or have them airbrushed. The average cost of the tops and bottoms together is around $40, give or take, so that suit you pointed to on Ebay may actually be a good deal if you're willing to do some work to it on your end.

 I'm not crazy about the logo, it could definitely look better, that would be one thing I would try to either fix myself, or have an airbrush artist fix.

If you want to go really cannon, the gloves are not correct either but that's an easy fix if you cut the hands off the suit and wear more accurate gloves over it.

And then boots you can always add as well. Other than that you'd be left with finding a good mask and upgrading the ring later. It's not a bad looking suit, and could be turned into an awesome looking one with just a little bit of work. Of course also make sure that the seller is a reputable one and that the suit itself is of good quality, sometimes pictures can lie so be sure to do your homework before commiting to buy.

If there's anything we can help you with as you go along the building process, dont hesitate to ask.

Bert, Could you send me a link to the Eastbay people you said you buy from. I would love to take a look at their stuff.

I am looking at doing a gerneric Green Lantern for the LFCC in a few months. Got to get back in shape for the costume though lol

Ps: the idea for the original Green Lantern costume is a good idea. I may look at making one of them myself if I can get in shape enough. I love the style of it.

Well the reason I wanted to make the Green Lantern costume is for a Teen Titans group I'm planning for Metrocon on the Sunday. But I looked up the teen titans today and found out that at one point and time Kyle was a teen titan but currently isnt on the team. But saw that Kid flash was. I might talk to that guy about doing his costume instead. Glad I still got 2 months. <<;

Sure thing Crimson Kage, here's the link for the pants:

http://www.eastbay.com/catalog/productdetail/cm--GLOBAL%20SEARCH%3A%20KEYWORD%20SEARCH/supercat--home/model_nbr--76740/sku--16835195/size--/#sku=16835195&size=XS

and the link for the shirt:

http://www.eastbay.com/product/model:76720/sku:16833303/?cm=GLOBAL%20SEARCH:%20KEYWORD%20SEARCH#sku=16833303&size=XXL

However, the shirt page is only showing one size; XXL, and one color; blue. Not sure what's going on there, they may be discontinuing or that may just be all they have right now. For a GL, I'm using a black top and bottom with the green jacket for Guy. In the future, I plan to do a "New Frontier" style Hal Jordan, I'll still use the black top and bottom, and my wife will make the green "50's bathing suit" that will go over it.

Hope that helps.

kikuyo: why not do both? You can never have too many costumes :wink:  And BTW, if you need a GL ring, I can get more of the comic shop promo rings from last year so LMK.
